The best photos as Liverpool train ahead of Champions League decider at Bayern Munich
Liverpool trained at Melwood on Tuesday afternoon, before flying out to Germany for their Champions League last 16 second leg clash with Bayern Munich.
The Reds head to Munich this week for their decider at the Allianz Arena, looking to book their place in the quarter-finals for the second consecutive season.
Having been held to 0-0 draw by Niko Kovac’s side in the first leg, Liverpool need either a win or a score draw to progress, and can take confidence that their hosts will need to attack.
Jurgen Klopp oversaw an open session shortly before he and his squad left the city, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Milner and Alberto Moreno all returning from injury.
Dejan Lovren was also part of the squad after being an unused substitute for Sunday’s 4-2 victory over Burnley, following a long spell out with a hamstring problem.
He could partner Virgil van Dijk at the back on Wednesday night, though it is more likely Joel Matip will retain his place in Klopp’s defence.
The key question marks surrounding the manager’s selection come in midfield, with Fabinho perhaps the most nailed-on starter, as the Brazilian proves increasingly key.
Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana are both options, with the captain coming off the bench and the No. 20 shining on a rare start against Burnley, though one player missing on Tuesday was Naby Keita.
Rhian Brewster was part of the group to train at Melwood, with the 18-year-old still working his way back to full fitness following long-term ankle and knee injuries.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain missed out, however, as Liverpool take precaution following his return for the U23s on Friday.
Mohamed Salah will be looking for his first goal in six games on Wednesday, with a five-game drought starting with the draw against Bayern at Anfield.
The Egyptian was in high spirits along with the rest of the squad, with morale boosted after a return to winning ways at the weekend.
Klopp will hold his pre-match press conference at the Allianz at 6.30pm (GMT), with Kovac telling reporters earlier in the day that “people might say it is an advantage for Liverpool but we want to win and we will have great support.”
