Liverpool draw Arsenal at home in League Cup fourth round

Liverpool have been drawn at home to Premier League rivals Arsenal in the fourth round of the League Cup, after their 2-0 victory at MK Dons on Wednesday night.

The Reds progressed as goals from James Milner and Ki-Jana Hoever sealed a comfortable result in Milton Keynes.

Ensuring their name went into the hat for the draw, Liverpool are pitted against Unai Emery’s Gunners in the next stage, having already gone one better than the past two campaigns.

Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League, and progressed beyond the third round after a 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

The fixture should be held on Wednesday, October 30, which falls between away clashes with Tottenham (H, Oct 27) and Aston Villa (A, Nov 2).

It will the Reds’ sixth game next month, which begins at home to Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League (Oct 2) and includes the second international break of the campaign.

Caoimhin Kelleher, Harvey Elliott, Rhian Brewster, Herbie Kane and Sepp van den Berg all made their debuts for the first team at Stadium MK, and it is likely Klopp will continue to rotate his side in the cup competitions.

The last time Liverpool were in the fourth round was in 2016, when Jurgen Klopp‘s side won 2-1 at home to Tottenham, with Trent Alexander-Arnold making his debut on a night decided by a Daniel Sturridge brace.

Elsewhere, Chelsea will face Man United in the fourth round and Man City drew Southampton.
