Ajax director of football Marc Overmars’ decision to not leave the Dutch club for Arsenal has pushed Monchi a step closer to the Emirates in the summer.
Newspapers in England continue to suggest that Overmars would not join Arsenal in the summer by leaving Ajax and the Dutch club too would not allow the former winger to do the same.
This means Monchi is currently the favorite to become Arsenal’s next sporting director and the Gunners could pay the Spaniard’s release clause of 3 million euros at the end of the season.
