Solskjaer names four players in line to replace Martial, Lingard

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named four players that could be given the opportunity to shine in the absence of Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.

The Norwegian, who suffered his first defeat as United interim boss on Tuesday against PSG, confirmed in Friday’s press conference that Martial and Lingard will be “out for two to three weeks”.

That will come as a blow to United with the pair in brilliant form recently as Solskjaer has guided the club to ten wins in his first 12 matches.

However, Solskjaer is confident others can step up to the plate with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez amongst those he is considering.

Solskjaer said: “Chance for anyone who plays, Alexis, Romelu, Chongy or Angel, Anthony and Jesse have done really well for us, they’re vital but then again with Rom and Alexis, they’ve got different skill sets and will be able to show what they can do.

“So we just need to gel a team together for Monday.”

On the possible inclusion of Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes, Solskjaer added: “Yeah, it might be, we’ve got still forward options but Angel and Chongy have been training with us all week and the weeks leading up to this so there’s a big chance they’ll be involved.”
