Klopp gets a little p*ssed off about Chelsea 2014 questions

Jurgen Klopp was unsurprisingly a little bored and annoyed at being constantly asked about Liverpool’s game with Chelsea in April 2014 on Friday.

Liverpool host Chelsea in our game to watch on Sunday, with much of the narrative surrounding their clash almost five years ago when Jose Mourinho’s side derailed the Reds’ title challenge.

Klopp’s team will go 110 Premier League games unbeaten with a 2-0 victory however, maintaining their current push for a first top-flight crown since 1990.

But the German was left understandably annoyed at his pre-match press conference on Friday, having fielded one too many questions about a pretty irrelevant match five years ago.

“I’m not sure if that’s in anybody’s mind apart from yours,” he said to the first question. “I heard about it of course but it is nothing to do with us.

“It’s a completely new story. It’s all about the game on Sunday and not about the past.

“Salah was there for Chelsea but we’ve changed it completely. Everything has changed, only the colours and names are the same.

“I know we have to work hard but I liked the game and style on Tuesday night and the good moments which we have to be in because we are going for big targets.”

His response to a second question was a little more terse.

“If anyone wants to talk to my players about what happened in 2014 please don’t,” he said.

“We have to be positive and front-footed – how we’ve done it for the whole season.”

Then to a third question, he replied: “I didn’t think one second until I entered this room for 2014. Not one second!

“We don’t compare it to any other season. You ask me how it was that time, I have no clue.

“I’m not nervous. I feel the intensity, it’s good, in this moment we see the positive.”
