Lovren starts as Klopp names two XIs

Jurgen Klopp has again named two different XIs for the first and second half of Liverpool’s second pre-season friendly of the summer at Bradford today.

The Reds look to build on their near-perfect start at Tranmere in midweek as they head to Valley Parade for a clash in support of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

After putting six past new League One side Rovers on Thursday night, with goals from five different players, this is likely to be a similar test for Klopp’s mixed squad.

Late returns and injuries have restricted the manager’s selection so far, but also provide the opportunity to assess some of the club’s best young players.

Five academy talents are part of Liverpool’s starting lineup at Valley Parade, with the club confirming Klopp’s XI for both halves ahead of kickoff.

Simon Mignolet starts between the sticks, behind a back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Nat Phillips, Dejan Lovren and Yasser Larouci.

In midfield, Adam Lallana should take up duties in the No. 6 role, flanked by James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Rhian Brewster lining up in attack.

The likes of Ki-Jana Hoever, Fabinho and Liam Millar will come on after half-time, while Dan Atherton and George Johnston are named as substitutes.

Mignolet will play the full 90 minutes, following injury to Vitezslav Jaros.

Liverpool’s first-half XI: Mignolet; Clyne, Phillips, Lovren, Larouci; Lallana, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Wilson, Kent, Brewster

Liverpool’s second-half XI: Mignolet; Hoever, Matip, Gomez, Lewis; Fabinho, Woodburn, Jones; Millar, Origi, Duncan

Substitutes: Atherton, Johnston
