Nations League: England beat Switzerland 6-5 on penalties after 0-0 draw
England beat Switzerland on penalties to finish third at the inaugural Uefa Nations League finals.
Both sides scored their first five spot-kicks before Jordan Pickford saved Josip Drmic’s effort to give Gareth Southgate’s side victory.
The penalties provided some welcome drama after a lacklustre 120 minutes.
England had come closest to winning the game in normal time – hitting the woodwork twice while Callum Wilson had a goal ruled out by VAR for a foul.
Hosts Portugal will take on the Netherlands in the Nations League final at 19:45 BST on Sunday.
