Pep offers reaction to late Liverpool winner: ‘Ah sh*t’

Pep Guardiola thought Liverpool’s late winner against Tottneham was “nice” – after a brief moment of despair.

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham after Toby Alderweireld’s last-minute own goal.

City can regain the initiative with a victory over lowly Cardiff on Wednesday, which would leave the two sides separated by a single point with six games left each.

Quite why Guardiola is bothering trying to win the title is unknown, considering it is ‘destined’ for Anfield.

The Spaniard was depressingly asked whether he thought it was ‘fate’ that Liverpool would win their first top-flight crown since 1990, but to his credit he rescued the question with a fine answer.

“When you see them you say ‘ah sh*t’,” he said. “But after five or 10 minutes, it’s nice.

“Nobody said it would be easy, nobody. We knew it, I knew it. It is a better challenge.

“After a while you say it would be amazing, what we are going to live. Everybody is excited for what we are going to live in the next weeks.”
