‘Very professional’ Spurs make Pochettino ‘very happy’

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino credited his players with a ‘very professional performance’ to beat Huddersfield 4-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Lucas Moura netted a hat-trick to add to Victor Wanyama’s opener as Spurs reclaimed third place from Chelsea.

Pochettino was able to make seven changes between the first and second legs of Spurs’ Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City and the manager was delighted to win while balancing his priorities.

“I’m very happy,” Pochettino told Sky Sports. “The performance was very professional.

“It’s been a difficult week but we were really focused. We are in the race for the top four so it was important to get the win.

“We needed to forget the Champions League because it’s easy to relax after that moment against Manchester City, but the players knew this game was important.

“We need to assess a few players. Hopefully we can recover Dele Alli or Harry Winks. We’ll see with Dele. It’s not clear with both, but our power is in the squad.”
